Little Yoho Valley

There are 3 trails that will take you to the Little Yoho Valley.

The shortest and easiest way is the Little Yoho Valley Trail. It is the least spectacular as it is all in the forest. Little Yoho Valley - 9.3km one way, 520m elevation gain. Accessible by way of the Yoho Valley Trail which will take you to Laughing Falls, then take the junction north where you'll climb into the alpine. You can stay overnight at the Stanley Mitchell Hut or the Little Yoho Campsite. Make reservations well in advance.

The second approach is through the Iceline Trail. It is not much longer than through the Little Yoho Valley trail, but it has a lot more climbing making it more strenuous. But it is also much more rewarding since it offers some spectacular views. Most of the trail is above timberline. Iceline - 10.5km, elevation gain 695m. The trail starts at Whiskey Jack Hostel, and climbs through a large avalanche path onto a bench with spectacular views of Emerald Glacier above, and Daly Glacier across the valley.

The third approach is around Twin Falls and the Whaleback Trail. This is the longest and the most strenuous approach; therefore, you might consider taking 2 days. Sleeping at the Twin Falls Campsite the first night and continuing the Little Yoho Campsite for the second night. Twin Falls and the Whaleback Trail - 17.4km, 1,000m+ elevation gain. From the end of Yoho Valley Road you follow the Yoho River to Laughing Falls (3.8km), then on to Twin Falls (3.8km). Continuing on to the Whaleback trail (6.5km), where you'll encounter some of the most spectacular scenery in the park. You will get back onto the Yoho Valley Trail, turn right and continue to the Little Yoho Campsite (3.3km).
